31 Days of Horror

It’s October, the spookiest month of the year. In what will likely end up being an ill-advised effort, Chris suggested we watch a horror movie a day for the month. Though, given prior commitments, this will more likely involve having to skip a day or two during the week, then engaging in frantic binge-watching over the weekends. Hey, it’s not as if I’ve got anything else to do. There will be no particular theme or structure to the titles chosen. Some will be old, others new; some deliberately selected for their quality, while others simply happened to be available to us with minimal effort.

The resulting reviews are listed below, in chronological order of viewing. [Except for Dracula, which was watched on October 13, but reviewed again as part of “Hammer Time”,  so is bumped to the end of the list!] Though “reviews” should probably be read loosely. I make no guarantees about them being focused appraisals of the film in question, especially when these are movies about which I have previously written in detail. I reserve the right to drift off on tangents of questionable irrelevance for some or all of the paragraphs. The selection process consisted of Chris giving me a list of films, and me throwing in a few selections, plus stuff that looked interesting on the various streaming services. To call this randomly eclectic would be putting it mildly. There’s no order. We’re more or less starting with the ones conveniently to hand, and building out from there.

So, with a deep breath, we plunge into the darkest parts of the human soul. Here’s a coincidental item from the archives, linking #1 and #2 on the list…
