Let me be the ten millionth reviewer to say it; this is an extended TV episode, no more no less. As such, it's acceptable enough, with virtually every element we've come to expect (unresolved sexual tension, Scully missing out on the crucial evidence, etc), but the inevitable conclusion is that there's precious little you've not seen before, perhaps the inevitable result of making a movie after 100+ episodes. It's pitched nicely to appeal to fans and novices -- those who, like me, gave up after the first two series will still be easily able to follow everything. However, the entire thing is probably the most superfluous cinematic experience you will have had in a long time.
